What Happens at Teacher Training, Does Not Stay at Teacher Training

Finding my Purpose.
Many cultures around the world share a common belief: That each of us is here on this Earth at this time for a reason; simply stated, we have a purpose. I have always felt that I am here to teach others. I wasn’t always sure what I was supposed to be teaching them, but that calling was still there.
As a child, I was good at understanding what others were trying to do, and was often able to explain to them how they could do it in a manner they could comprehend. In my first real career, I used that gift as a computer programmer to identify problems and devise solutions that fit the needs of my clients. While rewarding in its own right, there wasn’t much long-term benefit to the recipients.
Fast forward a couple of decades, and I discovered Yoga.
What a wonderful way to alleviate stress and work the muscles and ligaments in the body! It didn’t take many classes for me to realize that this was going to be something I would stick with — for life! I also felt strongly that yoga was something I needed to give to others. But first things first, I needed to complete the 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training course.
Teacher Training as a transformative experience.
I wasn’t really sure what I was getting into beforehand. I knew I was going to learn more about Yoga and deepen my practice, and I did; but it was much more transformative than I had imagined. Every one of my fellow trainees came out of the program stronger than they went in. Not just in the physical sense – it would be pretty hard to train for six months and not become physically stronger – but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually as well.
What we went through in Teacher Training stuck with us all. Some of my classmates had said in the beginning that they didn’t really want to teach; but all of us are now teaching. Several of us now own Yoga studios! A couple more have launched their own businesses. A few found their way out of caustic relationships and are now with loving partners.
If you’re reading this and have been considering taking the training, do it! There’s no downside. You will be stronger and more confident at the end; ready to tackle your life ambitions. Check out upcoming 200 hour teacher trainings at Honor Yoga.
