This training will explore principles of the polyvagal theory related to our autonomic nervous system which neuroscience is showing significantly contributes to our experience of depression and anxiety. We will explore yogic and psychological principles to help people shift their energy level and associated thoughts and behaviors to bring them into a more regulated nervous system and rewire one’s brain to increase self-compassion and contentment. A variety of techniques such as yin and yang movement, behavioral activation, mindfulness meditation, breathing, radical acceptance and self-compassion will be reviewed which makes yoga a complementary approach to therapy.
