Aerial Yoga

Postures are done in the air creating space, detoxification and balance through aerial yoga.

Practitioners lean how to blend traditional yoga asana with acrobatic elements while focused on alignment and guided by breath.

Working with gravity allows for space to be created in the joints, and for lengthening in the muscles and ligaments. The aerial yoga wraps rest on pressure points bringing energetic balance to the meridians in the body. Compression free inversions boost the lymphatic system and detoxify the body while giving traction to the spine and hydrating the vertebral disks. An overall increase in flexibility, increase in the circulatory system, and mood boost are among some of the additional benefits to a regular practice.

Aerial Class Descriptions

AERIAL ROOTS (level 1, 60 min)
Aerial Roots is a grounded level one practice, with emphasis on transitioning your floor practice into an aerial practice. This class provides a gentle introduction to standing and seated aerial asanas with no inversions, no backbends or swinging.

AERIAL YIN & RESTORE (level 1, 60-75min)
Aerial Yin & Restorative is a gentle calming practice, enjoy the comfort and a low laying hammock 3-4 inches off the floor to support the body as a soft and comfortable prop. Yin postures provide a passive stretch in which postures are held for 3-5 minutes in order to allow deep muscle tissues and fascia to be released. Restorative postures support the physical body allowing deep relaxation to support the nervous system creating space for emotional healing. Yoga Nidra, guided mediation and deep breathing will be offered. All levels welcome!

AERIAL MIXED LEVEL (level 1-2, 75min)
Mixed Level Aerial Yoga is a class suitable for practitioners level 1-2, we will have longer holds on poses, emphasis on building a solid aerial practice, standing poses, inversions, backbends and strength building.

AERIAL POWER (level 3-core, 75min)
Aerial Power is a level 3 class with a faster pace, utilizing more upper body, challenging inversions and emphasis on building core strength. Practitioners will learn to use the hammock as a prop to build and arm balance and inversion practice building strength to enhance a stronger floor practice. Mixed Level aerial experience is recommend!

KIDS & TEEN AERIAL YOGA
Kids Aerial (ages 6 to 12) – Children love to learn using the body, floor yoga will warm them up and aerial yoga will help them to build self confidence and trust. Yoga breath work and meditation will help them to relax. Done all on a padded floor.
Teen Aerial (ages 12 to 16) – A weekly class just for Teens! Deepen your flexibility, learn to take a few moments out of your busy life to breath and decompress. Bring your friends and learn to fly together in a safe, fun setting.

Aerial Silks are Available for Purchase 

Continue to deepen your aerial practice at home by purchasing an aerial silk through Honor Yoga. Having a silk in your own home allows you to benefit from this practice even when you can not make it to the stdio for class.  The cost of the silk includes installation. It is recommended that you have a consistent aerial practice in-studio before making the purchase for a home silk.
